Summary
RATING: R for language and some sexual content/nudity

Starring Ben Foster, Woody Harrelson, Samantha Morton, Jena Malone, and Eamonn Walker

In his first leading role, Foster stars as Will Montgomery, a U.S. Army officer who has just returned home from a tour in Iraq and is assigned to the Army’s Casualty Notification service. Partnered with fellow officer Tony Stone to bear the bad news to the loved ones of fallen soldiers, Will faces the challenge of completing his mission while seeking to find comfort and healing back on the home front. When he finds himself drawn to Olivia, to whom he has just delivered the news of her husband's death, Will’s emotional detachment begins to dissolve and the film reveals itself as a surprising, humorous, moving and very human portrait of grief, friendship and survival. •  This movie was quite heavy. Ben Foster’s acting was superb that I felt so much solder’s pain through the main character’s eyes. Thanks to him, this film delivered such complex thoughts toward the war to me. And I always enjoy attending the group. Thanks David!
    • Chief Executive Officer & Producer
"The Messenger" effectively portrays the ups and downs of the day-to-day life of those living on or near a military base. It is distinguished by Ben Foster's, Woody Harrelson's, Samantha Morton's and Steve Buscemi's performances. A scene involving Foster and Morton in Morton's character's kitchen is particularly touching. The storyline meanders, though, and the film needs pruning. "The Messenger" is better than many of the movies currently in release.
    •  amazing movie. very tough to sit through, but probably the most deeply felt movie about war and loss that i've ever seen.
