    •  I enjoyed the movie overall, the cinematography and the performances by Jeff Bridges and Maggie Gyllenhaal. But I guess the storyline was it's weakest link. It conjured up The Wrestler, but with more editing. That is, nothing was really deeply explored as the main character moved from his broken shadow of a self to his redemption.
    •  Modest movie with fine performances; very good venues; delightful group of people; very well organized.
    • Chief Executive Officer & Producer
Cinematographer Barry Markowitz's camerawork in "Crazy Heart" is polished. The exterior shots burst with the vibrant colors of the American southwest. Markowitz's composition of the film's scenes emphasizes the characters' faces and the changing dynamics of their relationships. Maggie Gyllenhaal exhibits vulnerability, tenderness, sexiness, toughness and anger in her nuanced portrayal of Jean Craddock. Her performance overshadows Jeff Bridges's. Unfortunately, the film's plot is unoriginal and its dialogue pedestrian. The main character's rapid recovery from alcoholism is particularly unbelievable. "Crazy Heart" is a touching, enjoyable but not exceptional film. I was pleased to welcome Louise and Susan to the Group and enjoyed the attendees' wide-ranging discussion at Murphy and Gonzalez.
